Our students demonstrate ambition, empathy, and dedication while expanding their knowledge of Spanish and Hispanic American cultural perspectives.
Regardless of your professional goals, mastering Spanish will give you a competitive edge. We motivate students to cultivate international awareness through overseas study programs. Graduates pursue rewarding careers across diverse sectors including legal, medical, corporate, public service, and academic fields.
The degree program requires a minimum of 32 credit hours in upper-level language, literary, and cultural studies, with 20 credits dedicated to core curriculum. We strongly recommend enhancing linguistic abilities through international education. Participants may apply up to 16 credits from approved study-abroad programs toward their Spanish major. After returning, students must complete at least 4 major credits at Simmons. Exceptions for transferring courses are granted only under exceptional circumstances through formal petition. The department maintains final approval for all credit transfers, including those from Fenway Consortium institutions. Granada Travel Courses are classified as Simmons curriculum offerings.
