The Master of Arts in Counseling/Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Professional Counseling equips students to foster human growth and help clients address personal, relationship, career, and mental health challenges through a wellness-oriented approach to assessment, therapy, and treatment planning. This combined M.A./Ed.S. program consists of a 48-credit master's curriculum plus 12 additional credits of advanced coursework, totaling 60 credits. The curriculum covers core principles of individual and systemic behavior while developing competencies in areas including individual/group therapy, crisis response, prevention strategies, consultation techniques, developmental psychology, career guidance, client advocacy, and cultural diversity. Seton Hall's Professional and School Counseling programs maintain rigorous academic standards and fulfill the educational prerequisites for professional counselor licensure in New Jersey and numerous other states.
