The Albers Bachelor of Arts in Economics (BAE) program approaches economics as a social science, equipping students with microeconomic and macroeconomic analytical tools along with statistical and quantitative methods. Consistent with Seattle University's values, the curriculum explores ethical considerations and social justice topics. Small class sizes and expert faculty support students in developing the knowledge base required to emerge as principled leaders in economic studies. Through comprehensive economic analysis spanning local, national, and global perspectives - combined with training in analytics, quantitative reasoning, critical analysis, and communication - graduates gain the skills to address significant challenges across business, nonprofit, and government sectors or continue to advanced studies in economics, data analytics, public policy, business, or law.

Understanding Micro & Macro: Economics' Dual Disciplines. Recognize and communicate to general audiences the key institutions and factors influencing economic activity across local, regional, national, and global contexts, including fiscal/monetary policy fundamentals and their economic impacts. Articulate core economic concepts like scarcity (and its consequences), market economy principles, resource allocation mechanisms, market failures, and governmental interventions to non-specialists. Evaluate the ethical and social justice implications of market behaviors and policy results.
