Expanded Function Dental Auxiliaries (EFDAs) mainly serve in Community Health Clinics to enhance restoration services, enabling dentists to boost their efficiency in providing these treatments to patients. In Washington State, licensed dental hygiene practitioners are authorized to carry out these restorative procedures, yet they remain underutilized for this purpose due to the strong demand for conventional periodontal care. Currently, only approximately 30% of registered dental hygienists are actively performing restorative duties.
