MArch program students explore architectural design's history, theory, and techniques, gaining both practical skills for professional work and analytical abilities to innovate within the field. Our MArch curriculum emphasizes experiential learning through investigation, testing, and discovery, equipping students with professional competencies while fostering creative problem-solving. The program blends design studios centered on contemporary themes, technical instruction in structural systems and construction methods, and electives covering architectural history and theory. MArch candidates are urged to broaden their education by enrolling in cross-disciplinary SAIC courses and participating in AIADO's External Partnership opportunities. During their final year, students undertake an intensive capstone studio and create an independent thesis project with faculty guidance.
SAIC provides two NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture options: a standard 3-year program and an accelerated 2-year path for those holding a pre-professional architecture bachelor's degree.
