Our faculty is committed to providing students with comprehensive foundational drawing instruction through intensive year-long First-Year Studio courses. The 2D classes emphasize building representational precision, exploring linear techniques, perspective, and expressive line work while incorporating conceptual approaches. Throughout the year, studio assignments evolve to include detailed chiaroscuro studies, form and spatial analysis through value relationships, and thorough color theory exploration. Projects balance design principles with representational value studies. The First-Year Studio Visual Language lecture series introduces students to diverse artistic dimensions, concentrating on modern and contemporary developments. Through still imagery, films, and discussions, students engage with traditional methods, creative processes, and current artistic perspectives, gaining fluency in visual arts terminology.
