The Department of Art & Technology / Sound Practices provides an extensive selection of courses in digital arts and audio experimentation. This program serves as a platform to develop abilities, grasp theoretical foundations, and explore inquiries through demanding academic work with knowledgeable instructors who will both mentor and push your creative explorations.

Every term, AT/SP presents over thirty undergraduate course options, spanning subjects such as programming for creative applications, avant-garde audio creation, VR and AR technologies, interactive game development, electronic systems and mechanical motion, digital interface engineering, hardware modification techniques, real-time audio-visual performances, literary-technological intersections, biological arts, scent-based artworks, immersive audio-visual environments, lighting projections, environmental sound studies, cinematic audio production, and numerous additional disciplines.

Qualification Requirements

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago considers students who have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent for admission. Your counselor may submit your transcript through the Common Application, Parchment, email or mail.
If your high school diploma(s), certificate(s), or transcript(s) are in a language other than English, please include officially translated transcripts. We recommend students consider and use credential evaluation services that are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
All admission decisions are subject to evaluation of final high school transcripts, which must be received by August 15 for fall and January 15 for spring.
