This program is structured to equip students for starting roles in city and county law enforcement organizations (such as police or sheriff's departments), and/or to transition into Bachelor's degree programs in Criminal Justice or similar disciplines, preparing them for careers in federal or state-level law enforcement (including agencies like the FBI, DEA, INS, etc.).
Program Objectives -
Gain knowledge of the U.S. criminal justice system and the duties of different law enforcement agencies at local, state, and federal levels, covering the process from arrest to parole.
Explain the system's goals, crime issues, expectations for criminal justice professionals, and outline the various agencies and subsystems within the framework.
Understand the system's obligations to society, elements contributing to crime, the societal impact of criminal activity, and communication challenges between law enforcement and communities.
Differentiate between key criminological theories about crime origins and how these theories influence approaches to crime and criminal conduct.
