The Liberal Studies program at Santa Barbara City College offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that builds a broad educational base, covering subjects like English composition, analytical reasoning, verbal communication, natural sciences, creative arts, and social studies. The Associate in Science for Transfer in Elementary Teacher Education equips students with core competencies needed to seamlessly transition to bachelor's degree programs at CSU institutions. This specialized transfer degree, available at California community colleges, guarantees admission to a CSU campus in a related field (though not necessarily a specific location). Graduates receive preferential treatment when applying to comparable programs and enjoy GPA benefits for competitive CSU programs. Prospective AA-T or AS-T candidates should consult with an academic advisor to fully understand this transfer pathway.
Graduates of high schools or equivalent are eligible for admission, with the equivalent of a GPA of 2.0 or better.
Students must be 18 years or older by the start of the semester without restrictions.
