Mexican-Americans, who form the second biggest minority population in the U.S., have roots in Mexico's mixed Hispanic-Indigenous ancestry and over three centuries of involvement in shaping the American Southwest and the nation. Santa Barbara City College's Chicano Studies Program examines the experiences of this community across the country. Through courses in literature, language, history, and sociology, the program delves into Chicano heritage, cultural impacts, and current challenges.
Graduates of high schools or equivalent are eligible for admission, with the equivalent of a GPA of 2.0 or better.
Students must be 18 years or older by the start of the semester without restrictions.
