The economics department has been significantly impacted by the ongoing public health crisis affecting our region and globally. Following directives from California's Governor, Santa Clara County authorities, and SJSU's President, our department has transitioned all in-person classes to remote learning formats for the remainder of the semester. At San José State University, the Economics Department maintains a fundamental purpose: to educate both graduate and undergraduate students in economic reasoning and market dynamics. Our globally respected faculty will mentor you through economic theory, developing your analytical decision-making abilities to excel in business, public policy, government roles, data analysis, while also establishing a strong base for advanced economics studies.
Our applied economics focus delivers practical, solution-oriented training suitable for careers in education, corporate sectors, government agencies, financial institutions, and consulting. While emphasizing real-world applications, the program also prepares students with the rigorous academic foundation required for doctoral-level studies.
