The Economics Department at San José State University is dedicated to a single fundamental goal: educating both graduate and undergraduate students in economic reasoning and market dynamics. Our globally esteemed faculty will mentor you through economic theory, developing your analytical decision-making abilities to excel in business, public policy, government roles, data analysis, while also laying groundwork for advanced economics doctoral studies. The Department provides two graduate degree paths. Our flexible MA in Economics lets you customize your curriculum with faculty guidance, while our MA with an Applied Economics Concentration specifically prepares you for practical career applications.
U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited, and approved institution from a country outside of the U.S. A 2.5 GPA (from the 0.0-4.0 U.S. grading scale) in the last degree completed or a 2.5 GPA in the last two years of full-time study.
English Language Proficiency: IELTS: 6.5; TOEFL – 90 (IBT), paper based – 575, Computer based – 240; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 53.
