The Bachelor of Science in Recreation features a focused track in Recreation Therapy, equipping students for careers as certified Recreation Therapists across diverse healthcare environments. Program graduates qualify for national and state certifications via examinations administered by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) and the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC). These professionals deliver therapeutic interventions that enhance physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing in settings ranging from medical facilities and nursing homes to community organizations and correctional institutions. The degree requirements include 38 units of foundational coursework, 13 specialized Recreation Therapy units, and 13 units of supporting classes, culminating in a 14-week supervised internship with guidance from faculty and practicing therapists. Students must Earn a high school diploma, or equivalent and earn the equivalent of a U.S. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of “B” grades. Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of “C-” or better.
English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL – 61 (IBT), Paper based – 500; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 44.
