The Office of Undergraduate Education offers undergraduate degrees through its Interdisciplinary Studies, BS program (previously known as Special Major). This program caters to students whose academic and career goals aren't fully met by existing SJSU undergraduate degree options. Graduates of the Interdisciplinary Studies program develop into purposeful learners capable of adapting to new situations, synthesizing knowledge across disciplines, and pursuing lifelong learning.

The Interdisciplinary Studies BS allows students to create a customized, cross-disciplinary curriculum tailored to their unique educational objectives. This program isn't intended to circumvent standard graduation requirements or replace existing university programs, nor should it serve as an alternative for students experiencing challenges in their current major.
