The Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (SISS) teaches students about societal dynamics that shape, sustain, and change our communities. This program combines core sociological principles with cross-disciplinary methods to examine social systems and prepare future educators. Sociologists investigate how key institutions - including economic systems, government, schools, families, media, and legal frameworks - influence people's lives. Students gain essential competencies to understand and address the interconnected social, political, economic, historical, and cultural challenges of our increasingly globalized world.
