Our Master of Fine Arts program provides intensive, career-focused training in film production while fostering a deep appreciation for cinema's history, theory, and artistic principles. The faculty encourages creative exploration across various formats—including narrative, experimental, documentary, animation, and hybrid forms—equipping graduate writer-directors with expertise in both classic film techniques and cutting-edge digital tools.
This MFA curriculum also develops teaching competencies for aspiring college-level cinema instructors. The School of Cinema's accomplished faculty frequently draw from their professional projects, organize masterclasses with industry leaders, host screenings by visiting independent filmmakers, and help students network with local film and arts communities.
Designed for aspiring independent filmmakers and media creators, this 60-unit terminal degree allows students to specialize in documentary, experimental, and/or fiction filmmaking according to their artistic interests.
