The Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Mathematics Education equips elementary, middle, and high school educators with deeper insights into research, theory, and instructional methods for mathematics. It also enhances their understanding of mathematical concepts. This collaborative program with the secondary education department welcomes single-subject mathematics credential holders to apply via the secondary department. Educators with Multiple Subject credentials can qualify for a middle school mathematics supplementary authorization. Additionally, the program develops teachers for leadership positions within schools and districts.
Encourages and empowers teacher-leaders to master mathematical content while employing effective teaching strategies that foster student learning in mathematics.
The mathematics coursework in this program meets the criteria for obtaining a middle school mathematics supplementary authorization. Participants from both Elementary and Secondary Education departments complete shared classes.

Qualification Requirements
To meet the minimum eligibility standards for graduate study at San Francisco State, an applicant must:
1.Hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, or shall have completed equivalent academic preparation as determined by the appropriate campus authority,
2.be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended,
3.Have a 3.0 GPA or better in their earned undergraduate degree or the last 60-semester (90-quarter) units completed, or have earned a post-baccalaureate degree, and
