Contemporary biological and chemical sciences increasingly demand robust computational expertise for pioneering research. The Data Science for Biology and Chemistry Certificate equips students with essential programming and computational skills tailored to biological and chemical applications. This 2-year, 12-unit certificate program complements Master's degree requirements, featuring 4 core courses and 1 elective. Among the core requirements, a 3-unit course focuses on data and computer science with biology/chemistry applications, while a 1-unit support course fosters inclusive learning environments for coding mastery. Another 1-unit professional development course links students with academic and industry data science opportunities. The program includes 3 research units where students apply computational methods to their Biology/Chemistry MS thesis projects, plus one elective (3-4 units) involving computational analysis.
