The School of Nursing provides prelicensure (RN) bachelor's degree options at its San Francisco campus and through the Peninsula/SF State Baccalaureate Nursing Program hosted at the College of San Mateo. This Peninsula/SF State program is an intensive four-term course spanning summer sessions, administered by SF State's College of Extended Learning in collaboration with San Mateo Community College District, Sequoia Hospital, and the CSU. Both locations follow an identical curriculum. Prospective students should review current program prerequisites on the School of Nursing's website, as these may change annually. The baccalaureate nursing program accepts SF State undergraduates, transfer students, and those pursuing second bachelor's degrees. Since freshmen cannot declare nursing as their initial major, they may enter as Pre-nursing students or choose an alternative major. Note that Pre-nursing status doesn't ensure program admission; these students should consult the Student Resource Center in the College of Health and Social Sciences for guidance. All nursing program applicants must fulfill standard University admission criteria (detailed in previous Bulletin sections) along with program-specific prerequisites.
