The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry provides an exceptional learning environment for both undergraduate and graduate students. Our goal is to educate and prepare well-rounded chemists and biochemists who grasp both theoretical foundations and real-world applications of their field. The Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry program is especially designed for students aiming to combine chemistry with other disciplines. This degree can be paired with another major or minor to create the specialized skill set required for professions in healthcare, forensic science, environmental studies, regulatory compliance, chemical engineering, intellectual property law, business administration, sales, marketing, technical communication, science journalism, information science, and art conservation. Ideal high school preparation for chemistry and biochemistry degrees should consist of two years of algebra, one year of geometry, a trigonometry semester, one year each of chemistry and physics. Calculus is strongly advised. All undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry students must consult with a major advisor multiple times throughout their academic journey.
