The Molecular Biology Institute (MBI) at San Diego State University oversees the Molecular Biology Master's program. Comprised primarily of faculty from the Biology and Chemistry Departments, the MBI facilitates collaboration, provides resources, and strengthens molecular life sciences research and education. MBI faculty investigate diverse biological questions, with funding from numerous organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, NASA, American Heart Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Sea Grant, and the Air Force. Annual research funding currently surpasses $3 million. Faculty profiles, including research focuses and selected publications, are available under the Faculty section. MBI members also contribute to Chemistry and Biology Ph.D. programs (see other programs). Over 100 graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and technical staff engage in MBI faculty research initiatives.
