Students focus their studies on their selected specialization while engaging in relevant research. To prepare students for interdisciplinary aerospace settings, the program mandates coursework beyond their primary field. The curriculum is thoughtfully structured to equip students with robust analytical and design capabilities in aerospace engineering.
Thesis options include participation in faculty-led, innovative research initiatives. Practical skill development is emphasized through course projects, thesis work, industry collaborations, and internships at leading aerospace firms such as Northrop Grumman, General Atomics, and Goodrich Aerostructures. Additionally, the SDSU aerospace engineering department actively participates in national design-build-test competitions and technical paper challenges.
