The Division of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science represents one of the graduate-level departments in SDSU's School of Public Health. This division provides a Master of Public Health (MPH) program specializing in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science. The curriculum delivers comprehensive training in behavioral and social sciences for both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students, focusing on socio-environmental influences affecting health behaviors linked to illness, early death, and health inequalities. Students learn research and assessment methods specifically tailored for studying health behaviors and community wellness. Upon completion, graduates gain the skills to develop, oversee, and assess health initiatives across diverse environments such as educational institutions, workplaces, medical centers, and community groups. The program concentrates on investigating preventive healthcare and wellness strategies for both broad populations and targeted groups. Close collaboration between faculty and students enables practical application of behavior modification theories in research and real-world settings.
