The SDSU Department of Anthropology provides a Master of Arts program grounded in a comprehensive four-field methodology. Students explore human diversity through biological, social, linguistic, historical, and humanistic perspectives within an interdisciplinary framework.

Graduate candidates gain hands-on experience in integrative anthropology through faculty-guided fieldwork and access to cutting-edge laboratory resources, including specialized facilities like the Biological Anthropology and Primatology Lab, Computational Archaeology Lab, Environmental Archaeology and Anthropology Lab, Historical Archaeology and Maya Research Lab, and Zooarchaeology Lab.

Qualification Requirements

You will be asked to list the institutions you attended, dates of attendance, and any degrees earned. You will be asked to provide any test scores available or dates of any future tests. Graduate applicants with international coursework are required to submit transcripts (academic) and proof of degree (diploma/degree certificate) both in the original-language and an English translation, from all post-secondary schools attended, to Graduate Admissions. Transcripts/grade reports are required from all post-secondary schools attended. Have attained at least a 3.0 GPA on all work leading to the bachelor's degree and subsequent post-baccalaureate coursework.
