Our theatre arts program offers abundant chances to hone and display your skills in acting, directing, design, and technical production through our annual lineup of plays and musicals. Students gain exceptional professional development through partnerships with regional theatre companies and frequent masterclasses with visiting industry experts. Our expanding network of local theatre collaborations strengthens each year, creating vital links between academic training and professional practice. Select from concentrations in general theatre, performance (including acting and musical theatre), youth theatre, or design and technology.
The Theatre Arts curriculum equips students for success across all theatre disciplines. Both undergraduate and graduate programs immerse participants in comprehensive theatre training, covering performance, musical theatre, scenic/costume/lighting/sound design, dramaturgy, stage management, and innovative theatre technologies.

Qualification Requirements
If you are graduating from a high school outside of the United States, your application will be reviewed on the following admission criteria Completion of high school/secondary level. A certified copy of graduation certificate or diploma will be required prior to enrollment at SDSU. Review the Requirements by Country for country specific information.
A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or 80 percent) or higher.
English Proficiency: If you are attending or have attended a high school where English was not the primary language of instruction, you must meet university-level competence in English through one of the following:
TOEFL Passing score is 80 iBT and 550 paper or higher.
IELTS Passing overall score is 6.5 or higher.
