Saint Louis University's art history undergraduate program equips students with crucial abilities in critical thinking, research, and communication through studying art's historical and ongoing social influences. SLU's art history professors provide diverse studies spanning ancient civilizations, Western artistic traditions, global art forms, modern beginnings, and cutting-edge contemporary movements.
As an interdisciplinary subject, art history integrates key approaches from humanities fields including history, philosophy, religious studies, and economics, enabling students to examine both artworks and the societies that shaped them.
Program Objectives-
Students will develop the ability to situate artworks within their proper contexts.
Students will gain skills in conducting research and evaluating sources critically.
