Transformation never occurs by passively standing by. It's the tireless efforts of those championing society's marginalized—recognizing their struggles, giving them voice, and crafting solutions—that creates the momentum for meaningful advancement. You understand that advocacy sparks both social and policy change, and if you're looking to channel your deep commitment to helping others into a profession, Saginaw Valley State University's Bachelor of Social Work program nurtures your dedication while supporting diverse communities across the Great Lakes Bay Region.
SVSU launched its social work curriculum in 1970, earning national accreditation in 1983. Our consistently accredited BSW program prepares compassionate, motivated individuals to become catalysts for change, combining foundational social work principles with contemporary perspectives on social justice and advocacy. Designed to help you pursue a Limited Bachelor of Social Work (LBSW) license in Michigan, the program shapes your professional path through hands-on fieldwork, research experiences, and guidance from faculty both during and beyond class time.
