The French major equips students to teach from preschool through 12th grade. This program entails finishing the outlined 30-credit major, completing an approved minor in another department, and undertaking professional education courses in Modern Foreign Languages within the College of Education.
Students are highly encouraged to complete at least 6 credits through study abroad in a nation where their target language is spoken. With instructor consent, these credits may count toward either required or elective courses in the major.
For teacher certification, all foreign language majors and minors must additionally achieve an Advanced Low rating or higher on the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).
