The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) equips students with skills to assist both children and adults in navigating challenging life circumstances, including health issues, bereavement, and relationship conflicts or separation. The program teaches methods for identifying and treating severe mental health conditions while connecting individuals with necessary resources and support. This curriculum fulfills the educational prerequisites for becoming a licensed professional counselor or clinical professional counselor in Illinois. Additionally, it aligns with the academic standards for the Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) credentials. The Counseling and Human Services program caters to those aiming to promote social justice by addressing the unique needs of individuals across all age groups within educational and community settings. No prior undergraduate degree in counseling is necessary. Students can select between Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling degree paths.
