The Master of Fine Arts in studio arts emphasizes teamwork and cross-disciplinary methods across the four primary fine arts disciplines (painting, printmaking, sculpture, or expanded media) as well as throughout the entire College of Art and Design.
Fine arts involves producing creative works through mediums like painting, sculpture, printmaking, illustration, expanded media, and other visual art forms. Graduates with an MFA in fine arts pursue careers as practicing artists, art teachers, professors, museum curators, gallery managers, archivists, or leaders in arts organizations.
This intensive two-year MFA studio program combines core studio classes with elective options including glasswork, ceramics, film, and photography, alongside theoretical seminars and thesis development. The curriculum fosters individual artistic development, creative exploration, collaborative projects, and innovative outcomes that transcend traditional boundaries, culminating in a public thesis exhibition. Coursework focuses on developing visual artistry while encouraging critical discourse about artistic practice and sustainability.
