RIT's public health program examines contemporary health challenges to prevent illness, enhance wellbeing, and advance health equality worldwide. When COVID-19 emerged globally in March 2020, it demonstrated the critical need for coordinated public health responses at all levels. As the pandemic reached every corner of the planet, health professionals urgently needed to share knowledge, develop treatments, and implement containment strategies - marking perhaps the first real-time global health emergency witnessed by modern society.
The pandemic underscored the indispensable role of public health experts who analyze, assess, and address diverse health concerns.
Nearly every public health career shares the fundamental mission of preventing disease, enhancing wellbeing, and extending lifespans globally. Professionals in this field typically work through education, policy, or research to accomplish these objectives:
Provide health education to communities
Establish prevention protocols for diseases and injuries
Promote universal healthcare access
A public health degree serves as an excellent foundation for rewarding careers in either direct patient care or population health initiatives. RIT's public health program equips students with the expertise to make meaningful health impacts both locally and internationally.
