The Associate of Science (AS) in Applied Liberal Arts program equips deaf and hard-of-hearing students with the foundation needed to pursue and complete bachelor's degrees in RIT's College of Liberal Arts or NTID's Community Development and Inclusive Leadership program. This specialized pathway is open to eligible deaf and hard-of-hearing applicants.
Offered through RIT's National Technical Institute for the Deaf, this Associate-to-Bachelor's program provides exceptional academic support while enhancing students' skills through NTID faculty-led courses.
Students select their intended bachelor's program by the conclusion of their first year. The second year includes four major-specific courses, along with required mathematics, science, and other coursework to fulfill degree prerequisites.
Beginning with the AS in Applied Liberal Arts, students gain essential credits for seamless transition into bachelor's programs. With a minimum 2.5 GPA upon completion, graduates may advance to degrees in various fields including communications, social sciences, humanities, and technology-related disciplines.
