Tailored mainly for those aiming to transfer to University of California or California State University, the Liberal Arts associate degree offers a comprehensive curriculum with a focus on one of four key disciplines: Arts and Letters, Business and Computer Information Systems, Science, Math and Engineering, or Social and Behavioral Sciences. This program helps students cultivate vital life and career skills, including effective communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, quantitative reasoning, and multicultural awareness. To earn the degree, students must complete at least 27 units in their chosen emphasis area, fulfill the A.A. degree General Education requirements, and meet the A.A./A.S. degree criteria outlined in the college catalog. Note that courses counting toward the 27-unit emphasis cannot also satisfy General Education requirements. Important: Students may obtain only one Liberal Arts degree.
