The Associate in Science (AS) in Applied Computer Technology is a two-year degree program created to equip deaf and hard-of-hearing students with the foundational skills needed to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree in RIT's Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences. This specialized program is open to eligible deaf and hard-of-hearing applicants.
The AS in Applied Computer Technology, provided by RIT's National Technical Institute for the Deaf, serves as a stepping stone for students aiming to transition into a bachelor's degree program. Participants benefit from exceptional academic resources while enhancing their abilities through courses led by NTID instructors.
Students begin with the AS in Applied Computer Technology, which delivers essential coursework and credits required for admission and success in a bachelor's program. After earning the AS degree with a maintained GPA of 2.8 or higher, graduates can advance to RIT's Golisano College, where they may pursue bachelor's degrees in Computing and Information Technologies, Human-Centered Computing, or Web and Mobile Computing.
