Rivier provides a Master of Arts in Teaching Middle/Secondary English through two distinct pathways—one designed for practicing educators and another for those transitioning into teaching. Current educators can enhance their classroom expertise while gaining specialized knowledge in English/language arts pedagogy. Aspiring teachers will expand their understanding of literary studies, linguistics, and composition while acquiring practical instructional techniques for secondary education (grades 5-12). The program includes certification preparation for English/language arts instruction. Educators can customize their learning experience with elective options covering curriculum development, assessment strategies, and special education. Career changers in this program build essential classroom leadership skills alongside their content mastery. Through the M.A. in Teaching Middle/Secondary English, participants will: Cultivate excellence in teaching and communication Apply educational theory to real-world classroom scenarios Strengthen analytical and decision-making abilities
Applicants must have Official transcript(s) from Undergraduate study. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is expected for acceptance into our graduate programs.
Our minimum acceptable scores for standard English tests are TOEFL (61), IELTS (5.5), PTE (43).
