The department offers extensive resources for Atlantic World scholars, enabling exploration of innovative subjects spanning early modern and modern history. Experts in diverse areas—including colonial Brazil, modern Mexico, early North America, colonial Africa, early modern Britain, and Native American studies—help uncover the intricate historical connections across the Atlantic region. Those focusing on U.S. history frequently place their research on the nation's colonial origins and early development within this wider Atlantic context. Students work closely with faculty to tailor their specialized examination fields in both U.S. and Atlantic World history.
