Biosystems engineering combines molecular biology, protein engineering, and high-throughput technologies with systems modeling methodologies. Its goal is to achieve comprehensive insight into biological systems, spanning from molecular to cellular levels, while creating strategies to design, optimize, and control their overall performance.
ChBE researchers are working alongside faculty from Biosciences, Bioengineering, Computational and Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Chemistry to establish innovative frameworks. These integrate experimental, theoretical, and computational methods to analyze diverse cell populations as intricate, interconnected systems. This systems-driven methodology will revolutionize the design of effective therapeutics, engineered tissues, advanced materials, and eco-friendly, sustainable biotechnologies.
