Students pursuing the four-year Furniture Design BFA engage in a comprehensive curriculum covering theoretical foundations, technical abilities, contextual understanding, investigative methods, and career preparation. Rooted in historical craftsmanship, the program fosters creative exploration using innovative materials and modern techniques, helping students cultivate unique artistic perspectives through hands-on creation. Core focuses include furniture design fundamentals alongside the societal impact of artistic expression, thoughtful design, and civic engagement. During their second year, students master material techniques and application methods while refining their design approach through prototyping and finished works. Third-year students explore experimental approaches as they investigate novel materials, diverse furniture forms, three-dimensional objects, and human-centered design considerations.
