The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences provides doctoral programs across various specialized fields, as outlined below. Collaborative research occurs with other academic units such as the Darrin Fresh Water Institute and departments including Biology, Physics, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Materials Science and Engineering. PhD candidates must meet the Graduate Education Office's criteria, demonstrating proficiency in advanced coursework and research. No foreign language proficiency is mandated, though an original research dissertation is compulsory.
