The upcoming industrial transformation will be predominantly fueled by Intelligent Technologies (ITs). This shift will be characterized by the widespread integration and utilization of smart algorithms and systems, including self-operating machinery and connected devices. ECSE faculty maintains a longstanding heritage in advancing intelligent technologies. The AI and Machine Learning Systems (AI/ML Systems) team conducts core research in artificial intelligence and machine learning, along with their implementation across diverse physical systems.
In foundational research, AI/ML Systems faculty concentrate on theoretical advancements in areas like visual computing, data pattern identification, probabilistic modeling, digital graphics, data theory, signal compression, automated control, distributed computing, and intelligent processor architecture.
Regarding practical applications, the group implements AI/ML solutions across multiple physical domains, such as automation technology, networked physical systems, digital security, IoT networks, electrical grids, illumination systems, and sensor arrays.
