Pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science at Rensselaer equips students to address practical challenges and conduct groundbreaking research. Our graduates stand out by launching startups during their studies, securing rewarding careers at diverse organizations, and gaining admission to top-tier graduate programs. Due to our program's excellence and achievements, computer science has attracted the highest number of incoming freshmen among all majors for five consecutive years. Since 2018, we've grown to become the most popular single major on campus, now serving more than 1,400 undergraduate students. As both the largest standalone major and most frequent dual major choice, our adaptable curriculum enables specialization in specific computing areas while offering distinctive chances for open-source contributions and participation in faculty-led undergraduate research projects.
Computer science involves examining and applying computational methods through design, analysis, implementation, and communication. Rensselaer's program develops students' abilities to tackle real-world applications while advancing computer science knowledge. The curriculum establishes strong foundations in both theoretical concepts and practical applications.
