Recognized as the 16th best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and top-ranked in Connecticut, our physician assistant program emphasizes developing a robust scientific base while cultivating leadership, analytical, and interpersonal abilities through practical clinical training. You'll train to become a vital partner to physicians across diverse medical environments, administering diagnostic tests and carrying out standard medical procedures.
This 27-month curriculum delivers an in-depth combination of coursework covering areas like pharmacology, internal medicine, surgical practices, and emergency care. You'll acquire hands-on clinical experience by working alongside healthcare professionals in hospitals, medical centers, long-term care facilities, and nursing homes. In your initial year, you'll be matched with a licensed practitioner for weekly half-day sessions to immediately implement classroom knowledge in real-world patient care scenarios.
Our interdisciplinary model creates chances to work alongside students from various medical and health science fields, fostering critical teamwork and leadership competencies. You'll train with cutting-edge equipment in advanced facilities, mastering skills like diagnostic image interpretation and performing medical techniques including suturing, administering injections, and wound management. Additionally, meaningful volunteer initiatives like the Urban Service Track program allow you to deliver healthcare to Connecticut's underserved communities.
