From crafting strategic communications to gaining insider perspectives on lawmaking, our political institutions depend on professionals dedicated to serving the public good. Pursuing social equity, innovative solutions, and analytical reasoning all demand cultivating competencies that empower active civic participation. We'll equip you for professional paths in public administration, media, legal fields, nonprofit work, or advocacy initiatives.
Our curriculum teaches you to evaluate policies, power dynamics, social movements, inequities, historical contexts, and governmental operations. You'll develop skills to question established systems and tackle multifaceted challenges like institutional racism, various biases, marginalized community experiences, and diverse approaches to equity. The program prioritizes experiential education, offering political internships with election campaigns, advocacy groups, NGOs, and other organizations. Additionally, you can participate in our Quinnipiac University in Washington, D.C. (QU in DC) program to study in the heart of American politics.
Through Quinnipiac's Albert Schweitzer Institute, you'll engage with international figures including Nobel Peace Prize recipients and former U.S. presidents. Alumni from our political science program have secured positions as Washington correspondents, State Department personnel, congressional aides, policy advocates, and directors of nonprofit organizations focused on immigration reform.
