The field of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) enables professionals to engage with diverse individuals across all age groups and their families in various service environments. HDFS coursework equips you to support family members, guiding them through systems and strengthening their bonds via hands-on community experiences while building a knowledge base for your professional journey. The Early Childhood Specialization caters to students interested in studying and assisting children from infancy to age 8 and their families. While this program doesn't result in licensure, graduates who complete it successfully meet the requirements for a streamlined CFLE (Certified Family Life Educator) certification application post-graduation. Purdue University Northwest's HDFS bachelor's degree with an early childhood focus prepares future human services professionals to work with young children (birth to age 8) and their families
Program alumni gain skills to assist children aged 0-8 and their families by navigating systems and improving relationships. This qualification prepares you to pursue Certified Family Life Educator certification.
Applicants must have official high school transcript(s) or GED test score report.
Test scores: Internet Based TOEFL (iBT) - 79 or higher; IELTS with a score of at least 6.5 or higher; British O-Level English Language Exam with a Grade of A or B on Ordinary Level of GCE/GCSE/IGCSE. PNW Undergraduate Admissions accepts a 100-110 Duolingo English Test score band.
