This 30-credit program offers a thesis track. Students selecting this option must enroll in and complete STAT 698 for a minimum of 3 research credits, concluding with an oral defense before their advisory committee.
For non-thesis students, an oral exam is mandatory. This exam may involve presenting and analyzing a journal article selected jointly by the student and their M.S. committee chair. The oral exam carries no credit. Students who have earned three points from qualifying exams may be exempt from this requirement.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants are ordinarily expected to hold a bachelor's degree from a college or university of recognized standing prior to registration, and should have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or higher.
