The initial year of your program emphasizes successfully completing the Core curriculum. You'll need to pass a Qualifying Examination that assesses undergraduate Physics knowledge, confirming you possess the foundational understanding required for the Ph.D. program. Alongside coursework, students should begin narrowing their scientific focus by identifying and connecting with one of the department's research groups.
