The Microbiology, Immunology, and Infectious Disease Research Area focuses on pioneering fundamental studies exploring cellular and molecular processes in infectious diseases, immune system reactions, and pathogen-host relationships.
Our work aims to decipher microbial communication networks, how pathogens manipulate host cells, and how immune defenses combat infections.
We study clinically significant pathogens affecting humans, animals, and crops, including Legionella, Salmonella, E. coli, Agrobacterium, herpesviruses, togaviruses, and flaviviruses.
Our team promotes academic excellence while offering multidisciplinary education at undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels in infection biology and microbiology, with extensive collaboration opportunities across Science, Veterinary Medicine, and Agricultural departments.
