The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) is a professional degree program spanning four years. Through classroom instruction, laboratory work, and practical experiences, students gain the necessary foundation to pursue diverse pharmacy careers. After completing the program, graduates qualify to sit for the pharmacy licensure exam or may opt for advanced studies in pharmacy or related disciplines. Additionally, PharmD holders can apply for post-graduate residencies in general or specialized pharmacy practice. Admission to the PharmD program requires completion of Purdue College of Pharmacy's two-year Pre-Pharmacy Program or equivalent coursework from another accredited institution.
Purdue College of Pharmacy maintains a top-ten ranking among U.S. pharmacy schools, featuring an esteemed faculty of 85 members recognized for groundbreaking pharmaceutical research and globally adopted curriculum development. The program emphasizes practical learning, combining classroom education with early hands-on experience at the Purdue University Pharmacy, followed by clinical rotations in hospitals, pharmacies, and other professional healthcare environments throughout the curriculum.
Completing Purdue's accelerated two-year Pre-Pharmacy program can reduce your study time and educational expenses by up to two years, while enabling faster entry into the workforce. This efficiency contributes to Purdue PharmD graduates carrying less debt than their counterparts from other Big Ten pharmacy programs upon degree completion.
