The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored how intricate health challenges can be. Addressing these issues effectively demands more than just individual care—it calls for transformations in policies at all levels, healthcare system innovations, community outreach initiatives, and population-wide efforts to encourage behavioral change.
Public health students build expertise across five key areas (Behavioral Social Sciences, Biostatistics, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, and Health Policy and Management) to explore pressing questions like:
Why do certain communities face higher cancer mortality rates? Is it due to increased incidence, delayed diagnosis, unequal treatment access, or a combination? How can local organizations, schools, employers, or governments create meaningful change?
What obstacles hinder mental healthcare access in rural regions, and which solutions prove most effective? How can technology bridge gaps in care? Which approaches best reduce mental health stigma? Does patient-provider shared experience improve outcomes?
This major equips students to design, execute, and assess public health initiatives across diverse environments—from workplaces to hospitals—while gaining hands-on experience through internships in clinical, community, or governmental settings.
