For those who love mathematics, tackling challenges, and creating impact, pursuing Economics at the Krannert School of Management could be an excellent path
Economics examines how individuals make decisions. More precisely, it explores how people address scarcity and the motivations behind their choices. When a business considers hiring, what factors determine the ideal candidate? If they select one applicant over another, what are the trade-offs? Or, when governments increase fuel taxes, how does this influence consumer purchases and oil company revenues? As an Economics student, you'll develop skills to analyze datasets, derive meaningful insights, and accurately understand findings.
Economics professionals serve in government agencies at all levels, corporate consulting roles, financial institutions, and analytical positions across industries. Those pursuing advanced education often earn graduate degrees in business, law, or economics.
The BS program, offered by Krannert School of Management, prepares students for careers requiring economic analysis and quantitative methods. The BA degree, through the College of Liberal Arts, suits those applying economic principles within a broader humanities framework. Krannert additionally provides undergraduate Economics and Business Economics minors available to all Purdue students.
